Ken Glah (born December 2, 1964 in West Chester (Pennsylvania) ) is an American triathlete and multiple Ironman winner. He is included in the best list of American triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Ken Glah was active in running in his youth. During his active time, he has competed more than seventy times in Ironman distance competitions (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and 33 times in a row at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. He was able to place ten times in the top ten , his best placement in Hawaii was a third place in 1988.

From the mid 1980s until the dissolution of the team early 1990s belonged Ken Glah with other triathletes from the Philadelphia area as Jeff Devlin, Steve Fitch, Brooks and Greg Clark, Freddy Klevan, Jody Schmidt and Joy Hansen Leutner the team Foxcatcher from John du Pont . The Foxcatcher team was next to the J. Daniels team with Mark Allen , Scott Tinley , Scott Molina , Julie Moss , and others. a. then the most important triathlon team in the USA.

In 1990 Glah finished second at the Ironman New Zealand - in the sprint to the finish with only one second behind and thus one of the tightest target decisions in Ironman history.

In October 2015, the then 52-year-old successfully completed the Ironman in Hawaii at his 32nd start on the Big Island . The 33rd successful participation followed in 2016. His nickname is The beast from the East .

Private

In 1989 Glah married the former Australian professional triathlete Jan Wanklyn (* 1958), in April 1993 the couple had a daughter, but they live separately. He is now married to the German triathlete Christine Heidemann and they both live in West Chester (Pennsylvania) .
