Dave Sime, 1960

Dave Sime (actually David William Sime ; born July 25, 1936 in Paterson , New Jersey , † January 12, 2016 in Miami Beach , Florida ) was an American sprinter .

Sime never won an Olympic gold medal, but was one of the fastest men in the world at the time of his athletic career and held several sprint records in the late 1950s. In 1956 he had some interesting running duels with his friend Bobby Morrow , but an injury thwarted his hope of participating in the Olympics for that year.

Four years later at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he won the silver medal in the 100-meter run , behind the German Armin Hary (gold) and ahead of the British Peter Radford (bronze).

His son-in-law Ed McCaffrey was a successful American football player and won the Super Bowl three times .
