Alexander Anatolyevich Jewgenjew ( Russian Александр Анатольевич Евгеньев ., English transcription Aleksandr Yevgenyev * 20th July 1961 ) is a former Russian sprinter , who in the 1980s for the Soviet Union starting mainly in the 200-meter run was successful and as a relay runner.

Evgenjew was European indoor champion in the 200-meter run in Budapest in 1983 and in Gothenburg in 1984. At the European Indoor Championships in 1985 in Piraeus and 1986 in Madrid, he won bronze and silver over the same distance. He also won the 200-meter run at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris in 1985 .

Yevgenev won his first international outdoor medal at the European Athletics Championships in 1986 in Stuttgart. As a starting runner in the 4 x 100 meter relay around Nikolai Juschmanow , Vladimir Muravyov and Wiktor Bryshin , he celebrated winning the title in front of the teams from the GDR and Great Britain. He finished sixth in the 200-meter run.

At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , Yevgenev, again used as the starting runner in the relay, won the silver medal behind the US and in front of the Jamaican team , together with Wiktor Bryshin, Vladimir Muravyov and Vladimir Krylov . In the 100-meter run , he reached the semi-finals.
