Géza Varasdi
Géza Varasdi (born February 6, 1928 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian athlete who specialized in the 100-meter run and was particularly successful internationally as a relay runner .
At the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, the Hungarian 4 x 100 meter relay won the bronze medal behind the US and Soviet teams in the line-up of László Zarándi , Géza Varasdi, György Csányi and Béla Goldoványi .
At the European Athletics Championships in 1954 in Bern, Varasdi succeeded in winning the title in the 4 x 100 meter relay. The Hungarian team set a championship record in the 1952 Olympic line-up with a time of 40.6 seconds and relegated the British and Soviet relays to their places. In contrast, Varasdi missed the finals with the relay at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne.
