Chijindu Ujah (born March 5, 1994 in Enfield, London ) is a British sprinter .
Athletic career
Born in Ponders End, Enfield, London, Usain Bolt's world record runs at the 2008 Olympic Games in the 100 and 200 meters encouraged him to take up athletics. After taking part in only 2 or 3 races in 2009, he began to train seriously in 2010. This year he ran the 100 meters under 11 seconds for the first time and continuously improved this personal best over the next few years. In 2011 he finished eighth over 100 meters at the World Youth Championships near Lille with 10.69 s and won the silver medal in the 100-meter run and with the English 4-by-100-meter relay at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Douglas . In 2012 he reached sixth place in 10.36 s at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona and was disqualified in the final with the British relay. In 2013 he won the Junior European Championships in Rieti with a time of 10.40 seconds.
The first time he ran under 10 seconds over 100 meters at the meeting in Hengelo on June 8, 2014. In 2015 he took part over 60 meters in the European Indoor Championships in Prague and was disqualified there in the final run. Over 100 meters he qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 10.05 s in the semi- finals and also with the British 4 x 100 meter relay could not qualify for the final . In 2016 he won the relay gold medal at the European Championships in Amsterdam and then took part in the 100 meters at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There he missed the finals over 100 meters by a hundredth of a second and was eliminated in the semifinals with 10.01 s. In addition, he was used with the season in advance, which took fifth place in the final with a different cast .
At the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas , the British relay did not reach the finish in the final. In August he took part in the home world championship in London , where he was able to achieve gold over 4 x 100 meters as a starting runner with the British relay . In the individual competition over 100 meters he was eliminated again in the semifinals with 10.12 s . In 2018 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham for the first time and was disqualified there in the semi-finals over 60 meters. At the European Championships he reached fourth place in the 100 meter final with 10.06 s.
Ujah was British 100-meter champion in 2015 and 60-meter indoor champion in 2015 and 2018.
