Lucas Jakubczyk (born April 28, 1985 in Plauen , Karl-Marx-Stadt district , GDR ) is a German athlete who initially competed in the long jump and sprint and has focused on the 100-meter run since 2011 .

Athletic career

As a younger student Jakubczyk played football and began to pursue ambitious athletics as a teenager. In 2004 he took part in the long jump at the Junior World Championships, but dropped out in the qualification. In the next few years he mainly started in this discipline, but did not get past fifth place at German championships, which he achieved in 2006 indoors and in 2011 outdoors. His best distances are 7.85 m outdoors (2007 in Berlin) and 7.88 m indoors (2010 in Linz).

Jakubczyk won his first German championship title in 2011 with the 4 x 100 meter relay of SC Charlottenburg .

In 2012 he became German champion over 100 meters in wind-assisted 10.16 s. In the run-up he had already set a personal best with 10.20 seconds. At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , he was eliminated in the semifinals. In the season Jakubczyk won the silver medal behind the Dutch season together with Julian Reus , Tobias Unger and Alexander Kosenkow in 38.44 s. In the same line-up, she improved the 30-year German record to 38.02 s on July 27, 2012. At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow , he finished fourth as a starting runner together with Sven Knipphals , Julian Reus and Martin Keller in 38.04 seconds.

In May 2014 Jakubczyk ran 10.07 s over the 100-meter distance in Clermont and thus just missed the German record of 10.06 s. At the European Championships in Zurich he again won silver in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with Julian Reus , Sven Knipphals and Alexander Kosenkow . In the individual competition he was fifth in 10.25 s, only three hundredths of a second behind the bronze rank. At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , he won the bronze medal with the German relay.

In 2017 Jakubczyk came in 6th place at the German championships in the 100 meter run in Erfurt .
