Athletic career
Patrick Domogala was a good runner even as a child. He was noticed with his speed in his age group at the national youth games and was invited to a trial training session by the person responsible for youth work in athletics at MTG Mannheim in 2004.
In 2008 Domogala was in the annual best list of the German Athletics Association (DLV) of the M15 and B-youth (U18) students in the 100-meter run and in third place with the 4-by-100-meter relay .
In 2009 he was German U18 champion over 100 and 200 meters . After all, he was second in the annual best list of the DLV of the B-Jugend (U18) over 100 meters and first over 200 meters.
In 2010 Domogala was German U20 indoor runner -up over 200 meters. In his international competition debut in May in Moscow, he qualified at the European Youth Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200-meter races for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore . At the beginning of August he was able to defend his U18 title over 200 meters at the German Youth Championships and become German U18 runner-up over 100 meters. Domogala won bronze in the U20 class with the 4 x 100 meter relay of MTG Mannheim. Two weeks later he was able to celebrate his greatest success to date when he won the bronze medal over 200 meters at the Youth Olympic Games . At the end of the year, Domogala was in first place on the U18 DLV best list for over 100 and 200 meters.
In 2011 he was German U20 indoor champion , both over 60 and 200 meters. He had to skip the outdoor season due to injury.
In 2012 Domogala defended his U20 title over 60 meters indoors. At the German Youth Championships, he won U20 double gold over 100 and 200 meters. At the end of the year, as in 2010, he led the U20 best list over 100 and 200 meters.
In 2013, after his last U20 year, Domogala was able to become the active German indoor runner-up over 200 meters. In the U23 class, he won the title with the 4 x 100 meter relay and was himself German U23 runner-up over 100 and 200 meters. With the 4 x 100 meter relay, he finished fourth at the German Championships and came 7th over 100 meters. At the end of the year he was number one on the U23 DLV best list with the 4 x 100 meter relay and was second best over 100 and 200 meters.
In 2014 Domogala had to cancel the indoor season due to a knee injury, but was able to become German U23 champions over 100 and 200 meters in mid-June . With the 4 x 100 meter relay, he became German U23 runner-up and German runner-up . Over 100 meters he came in 6th place at the German Championships . At the end of the year, Domogala was in first place in the DLV U23 list of the best over 100 and 200 meters as well as with the relay.
In 2015 he had to give up at the German indoor championships in the 60-meter run, but one day later he took bronze in the 200 meters when he set his personal best. Domogala was again German U23 champion over 100 meters. At the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , the semi-finals overtook him because he was unable to show his full potential due to massive groin problems.
In 2016 Domogala did not start again until the outdoor season after a bilateral groin operation the previous year. With the 4 x 100 meter relay, he won bronze at the German championships , but only came 11th over 100 meters.
In 2017, he was unable to compete because the doctor had prescribed an absolute racing ban.
In 2018 Domogala competed again in the indoor season and took 9th place at the German indoor championships over 60 meters, where he only missed the final by a hundredth. Because of false starts, he was eliminated from the German championships over 100 meters. At the European Championships in Berlin , the preliminary rounds overtook him with the relay. After he took over the baton from Kevin Kranz and handed it over to Julian Reus , the German relay team was in the lead when the team was handed over to Lucas Jakubczyk . With the staff firmly in his hand, Jakubczyk suddenly stumbled without any outside influence and fell because of a sudden muscular problem in his thigh.
In 2019 Domagala won his first active title in the indoor season when he became German indoor champion over 200 meters with a personal best and a European best time of the year in 20.77 seconds . He took 5th place over 60 meters. In May Domogala came with Maurice Huke , Aleixo-Platini Menga and Robin Erewa in the 4 x 200 meter relay at the World Relays in Yokohama with a German record of 1: 21.26 minutes on the bronze medal. In the team standings he finished fourth with the German team at these unofficial relay world championships.
