Jak Ali Harvey (born May 4, 1989 in Hanover Parish as Jacques Montgomery Harvey ) is a Turkish sprinter of Jamaican origin who has been eligible to start for Turkey since 2015.

Athletic career

Jak Ali Harvey gained his first international experience at the U23 NACAC Championships 2010 in Miramar , where he finished fifth over 100 meters and with the Jamaican 4 x 100 meter relay the silver medal in 39.36 seconds United States won. He then came to the Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Mayagüez with the relay in the lead; this also won silver in the final with a different cast. In 2011 he took part in the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen , China , where he won the gold medal in the 100-meter run in 10.14 seconds and was disqualified from the Jamaican relay in the preliminary run. He then decided to change his citizenship and was therefore not allowed to participate in international competitions until July 2015.

In 2015 he qualified over 100 meters for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 10.08 seconds. In 2016 he took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam , where he won the silver medal behind the Dutchman Churandy Martina in 10.07 seconds . In addition, he retired with the Turkish relay in 39.58 s in the first round. He also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated over 100 meters with 10.03 s in the semi- finals, as well as over 200 meters and with the relay in the preliminary round. In 2017 he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters at the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 10.16 seconds. With the relay he was able to qualify for the finals this time and finished seventh in 38.73 s.

In 2018, Harley won the gold medal in the 100-meter run at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 10.10 seconds, as well as silver in the relay, which only the Italians had to admit defeat. He qualified again over 100 meters for the European Championships in Berlin and won the bronze medal there in the final with 10.01 seconds behind the two Britons Zharnel Hughes and Reece Prescod . As part of the season , he took silver behind Great Britain and set a new Turkish national record in 37.98 s.
