Werner K. Blessing

Werner Karl Blessing (born November 20, 1941 in Munich ) is a German historian .

After studying history, German language and literature, philosophy and political science in Munich and Amsterdam , Blessing received a doctorate in national history as a student of Karl Bosl at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. phil. PhD. In 1975 he became a research assistant with Eberhard Pikart at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . From 1979 he was academic councilor and senior counselor with Karl Möckl at the University of Bamberg . He qualified as a professor in modern history. From 1989 to 2007 he held a professorship for modern and regional history at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . Blessing is a member of the Commission for Bavarian State History at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

In 2011 he was honored with the Federal Republic of Germany's Cross of Merit on Ribbon .
