Nikita Dmitriyevich Soshnikov ( Russian: Никита Дмитриевич Сошников ; English transcription: Nikita Dmitriyevich Soshnikov ; born October 14, 1993 in Nizhny Tagil ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Salawat Yulayev and Ufa hockey in the continental league since June 2019 the position of the defender plays.
Career
Nikita Soschnikow was born in Nizhny Tagil and played there in his youth for the junior departments of Sputnik Nizhny Tagil until he was selected in the KHL Junior Draft 2010 by Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast in 123rd position. From then on, the right winger played for their junior team in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga (MHL), the highest Russian junior division. In three MHL years, Soshnikov increased his personal statistics significantly, until he got a point average of well over 1.0 in the 2012/13 season (72 in 59 games). As a result, the Russian made his professional debut the following year, where he was mainly used in the Continental Hockey League for Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast; there were also four games at HK Buran Voronezh in the second-rate Wysschaja Hockey League . By the beginning of the 2014/15 season at the latest, the attacker had established himself in Atlant's KHL line-up and scored 32 points in 57 games during the season . He also made his debut with the Russian national team as part of the Euro Hockey Tour 2014/15 . His club Atlant Moskowskaja Oblast stopped playing after the 2014/15 season due to ongoing financial problems, with the majority of the players being taken over by HK Spartak Moscow . Soshnikov decided against this option and instead signed an entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs from the National Hockey League (NHL).
As expected , the Maple Leafs initially used Soshnikov with their farm team , the Toronto Marlies , in the American Hockey League (AHL). There he scored 18 goals in 52 games and provided ten templates, so that he was called back to the NHL squad at the end of February 2016 and made his debut for the Maple Leafs a little later. By the end of the season, the attacker was in eleven games in the NHL on the ice before he was sent back to the AHL for the playoffs for the Calder Cup , where he reached the conference finals with the Marlies. With the beginning of the 2016/17 season, Soshnikov established himself in the Maple Leafs squad and was henceforth regularly used in the NHL. However, this changed with the following season, so that the attacker was given to the St. Louis Blues in February 2018 in exchange for a four-round vote in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft . After 17 appearances for the Blues and eleven more for their cooperation partner San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, the Russian ended his engagement in North America after the 2018/19 season. In June 2019 he signed a contract with Salawat Julajew Ufa from the KHL.
