Career

Dmitri Schikin began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Kristall Elektrostal , for whose professional team he was active from 2006 to 2009 in the Vysschaya League , the second Russian division. Then the goalkeeper was selected in the first round in the KHL Junior Draft 2009 as the third player overall by Amur Khabarovsk . In the 2009/10 season , however, he was still without use in the Continental Hockey League . The entire 2010/11 season he spent in the multinational junior league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , in which he first played for the junior team of Amur Khabarovsk and after his move in October 2010 for the junior team of the SKA Saint Petersburg .

In the 2011/12 season Schikin was a substitute goalkeeper in the KHL team of SKA Saint Petersburg, while he was used in parallel for the farm team HK WMF Saint Petersburg in the Wysschaja Hockey League .

In July 2014, the SKA exchanged him for a right to vote for the 2015 KHL Junior Draft from Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast . He played five games in the KHL for Atlant before returning to the SKA in mid-December 2014 in exchange for a vote for the same draft as before. Ten days later it was handed over to HK Sochi in exchange for compensation .
