Daniil Jurjewitsch Apalkow ( Russian Даниил Юрьевич Апальков ; born January 1, 1992 in Magnitogorsk ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Sochi in the Vysschaja Hockey League since May 2020 .

Career

Daniil Apalkow began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 2007 to 2009 . In the 2009/10 season , the defender made his debut for the club's junior team, Stalnyje Lissy Magnitogorsk, in the newly formed multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , in which he and his team won the Kharlamov Cup straight away . He contributed to this success with 40 scorer points, including 21 goals, in a total of 50 games. In the 2010/11 season he also made his debut for the professional team of Metallurg in the Continental Hockey League , but remained pointless in his eight appearances and received two penalty minutes while he continued to play in the MHL team.

The 2011/12 season also began Apalkow initially in the MHL team Stalnye Lissy Magnitogorsk, where he acted as team captain, but later switched to Lokomotive Yaroslavl , which started a new beginning after the plane crash near Yaroslavl in the second-rate Vysschaya Hockey League . He also came to some missions for the MHL team Loko Yaroslavl.

In the following years he developed into a top performer and leader within the team, temporarily acting as assistant captain and regularly receiving contract extensions. During the 2019/20 season he moved to HK Dynamo Moscow and in May he moved to HK Sochi .

International

For Russia , Apalkow took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2010 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2012 . At the U20 World Cup in 2012, he and his team won the silver medal.
