Simon Bertilsson (born April 19, 1991 in Karlskoga ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Brynäs IF from Svenska Hockeyligan (SHL) since July 2020 and plays there in the position of defender .
Career
Simon Bertilsson began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Bofors IK , where he was active until 2007. Then the defender moved to the youth department of Brynäs IF , with whose U20 juniors he was once U20 champion and twice runner-up in the following three years.
During the 2008-09 season Bertilsson made his debut for the club's professional team in the Elitserien . In addition, he was selected in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft in the third round as the 87th player by the Philadelphia Flyers and in the KHL Junior Draft 2009 in the fourth round as the 86th player of the HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , but was then selected by neither of his two draft teams Committed.
In 2012 he won the Swedish championship title with Brynäs IF and contributed a total of nine scorer points to this success. At the end of the Svenska Hockeyligan 2016/17 he reached the play-off final with Brynäs again, in which they were defeated by HV71 in seven games. In the course of the play-offs Bertilsson also scored his first three play-off goals in the Swedish top division. After eleven years at Brynäs IF and his main round with the highest personal points (18 points), he left the club and moved to the Continental Hockey League (KHL) for HK Sotschi in May 2019 . He was injured at the beginning of the 2019/20 season. After a season he returned to Brynäs in July 2020.
International
For Sweden , Bertilsson took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2009 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2011 .
