Career

Patrik Valčák began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HC Poruba , for whose U18 and U20 juniors he was active from 2000 to 2003. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the fourth round as a total of 129th player by the Boston Bruins , for which he however never played. Instead, the winger ran for a season for the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Kelowna Rockets in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . With Kelowna he won the Memorial Cup in 2004 , the championship of the Canadian Hockey League . In the 2004/05 season he played for HC Havířov and his now renamed former club HC Sareza Ostrava in the first division , the second Czech division, and ended the season with the junior team Lincoln Stars from the United States Hockey League .

In the 2005/06 season Valčák was again under contract with several Czech clubs. This was Vsetínská hokejová from the Extraliga , as well as the second division HC Sareza Ostrava, KLH Vajgar Jindřichův Hradec and SK Kadaň . The 2006/07 season he started in the Finnish SM-liiga , in which he played for TPS Turku and the Espoo Blues , but ended it in the French Ligue Magnus at Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 . With this he won the French championship and the Coupe de la Ligue in the same season , as well as the Coupe de France in 2008 .

From 2008 to 2010 Valčák was active in the Slovakian Extra League for HC Dukla Trenčín and MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš . For the 2010/11 season he received a trial contract with the newly founded Slovakian club HC Lev Poprad , which should have played in the Continental Hockey League , but was not allowed to play. In December 2010 Valčák signed a contract with Olofström IK in the Swedish third division. The Czech started the 2011/12 season in his home country at HC Oceláři Třinec , before moving to HK Nitra in Slovakia in November 2011 .
