St. Antonius in Kottenborn

The Catholic branch church St. Antonius der Einsiedler in Kottenborn , a local community in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built at the beginning of the 15th century and is a listed building .

history

The building on Kirchweg lined with old elms is said to have been built as early as the 15th century. The choir was built in 1525 according to an inscription in a keystone . The church is dedicated to St. Consecrated to Anthony .

architecture

The hall building with two axes has a four-sided, helmeted roof turret that protects two bells. A pointed arch separates the choir and nave of the 17.7 meter long building. A two-part tracery window has been preserved from the Gothic period and further corner windows illuminate the room. Four consoles designed as angels support the ribs of the choir vault . and the keystones are decorated with coats of arms. The wooden altar with a rotating tabernacle dates from the end of the 18th century. On the outer pedestals of the altar are statues of St. Anthony and St. Nicholas and in the middle stands the Mother of God . The altarpiece is crowned by the statue of the Evangelist John .
