Troy Bodie (born January 25, 1985 in Portage La Prairie , Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . He played 159 games in the National Hockey League and 390 appearances in the American Hockey League before ending his active career after only nine seasons in professional ice hockey.
Career
Troy Bodie began his career as a hockey player with the Kelowna Rockets , for which he was active in the Western Hockey League from 2002 to 2006 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the ninth round as a total of 278th player by the Edmonton Oilers , for which he never played. In the 2006/07 season , the attacker was on the ice for Edmonton's farm team from the American Hockey League , the Hamilton Bulldogs , and the Stockton Thunder from the ECHL . In the following season, Bodie played for Edmondton's new farm team, the AHL club Springfield Falcons .
From summer 2008 Troy Bodie was under contract with the Anaheim Ducks . He was first included in the pre-season squad of Anaheim's farm team Iowa Chops , before making his National Hockey League debut for the Ducks on January 16, 2009 , when he played in the away game with the Pittsburgh Penguins .
In June 2009 Bodie signed a contract for two more years in Anaheim until the end of June 2011. In the 2009/10 season he was mostly with the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL, but also gained game practice with the San Antonio Rampage and Toronto Marlies in the AHL.
In November 2010, he was placed on the Waiver List by the Anaheim Ducks and then selected by the Carolina Hurricanes . There he ended the 2009/10 season as a regular with 50 regular season appearances, but spent the following two seasons in the American Hockey League. In July 2013, Bodie signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs , which was subsequently extended for another year. However, Bodie came in this second year in Toronto mainly for the Marlies in the AHL.
In September 2015, Bodie announced the end of his active career after only nine seasons in professional ice hockey. From then on he works as a scout for the Maple Leafs .
