Bartholomäus Elsner
Bartholomäus Elsner (* 1596 in Erfurt ; † January 16, 1662 ibid) was a German Lutheran theologian, linguist and orientalist.
Elsner studied from 1613. After his studies he traveled for several years through northern Germany, Norway and Denmark, Holland and England. In 1624 he became a preacher and professor and finally in 1642 a full professor of theology at the University of Erfurt . Elsner was rector of this university several times.
