Career

Club

Adam Dennis began his career as a hockey player with the Oakville Blades, for which he was active in the 2001/02 season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. From 2002 to 2006, the goalkeeper was in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League for the Guelph Storm and London Knights between the posts. After he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the OHL championship, with Guelph in 2004 , he moved to the London Knights with whom he repeated this success in the 2004/05 season. In addition, Dennis and his team then won the championship of the Canadian Hockey League , the Memorial Cup . Together with his goalkeeping colleague, he received the Dave Pinkney Trophy for the lowest team goals against the OHL. He himself was voted the best goalkeeper of the Memorial Cup tournament and in the 2005/06 season he was named OHL Goaltender of the Year .

From 2006 to 2009 Dennis played for the Rochester Americans and Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League . For the 2009/10 season he went to Europe for the first time, where he received a contract with SHC Fassa from the Italian A1 series . With the Italians, he confirmed his individual class. In his 37 main round appearances, he had 2.23 goals conceded per game, the lowest average goal conceded in the entire league. In the playoffs, he was able to reduce this value to 2.20 goals per game. His catch quota was also outstanding with 93.5% in the main round and 94.0% in the playoffs. With his good performance, he recommended himself for a contract with the Kölner Haien from the German Ice Hockey League , of which Dennis was committed for the 2010/11 season .

After an unsuccessful start to the season with the Haie , who signed Wade Dubielewicz as the new goalkeeper, Dennis left the Haie in October 2010 and was signed by HC Alleghe . He played in Italy for almost three years, then moved to Dornbirn EC in the Austrian ice hockey league in the summer of 2013 . He ended his active career after the 2013/14 season. For the 2016/17 season, Dennis was employed by the North Bay Battalion as Assistant General Manager, Assistant Coach and Goalkeeping Coach.

National team

Dennis made his debut for the Italian national team in February 2013 in Bietigheim-Bissingen during the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi 2014. Although the Italians did not qualify for the Winter Games due to a 3-2 defeat against Austria , he was also for the World Cup nominated. There he not only succeeded in advancing to the top division with the Italians, he was also voted the best goalkeeper and the all-star team in Group A of Division I.
