Jim Rutherford Trophy
The Jim Rutherford Trophy (until 2020: OHL Goaltender of the Year Award ) is an award from the Ontario Hockey League . It has been awarded annually since the end of the 1987/88 season to the best goalkeeper in the league, who is elected by the coaches and general managers . The winner has also participated in the election for the CHL Goaltender of the Year since 1988 . It thus corresponds to the Del Wilson Trophy of the WHL and the Trophée Jacques Plante of the LHJMQ .
Until the 2019/20 season, the honor was given as the OHL Goaltender of the Year Award , before being named after Hall of Fame member Jim Rutherford . He played over 400 games as a goalkeeper in the NHL and later made a name for himself there as a general manager.
