Brian Finley (born July 13, 1981 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the Nashville Predators and the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League during his career .
Player career
The 1.91 m tall goalie began his career with the Barrie Colts in the Canadian Junior League OHL , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft as sixth in the first round by the Nashville Predators .
After he had reached the final of the Memorial Cup with the Colts , but lost 3: 6 against the Rimouski Oceanic , the left catcher spent his last junior season with the Brampton Battalion . For the 2002/03 season Finley joined the Milwaukee Admirals , the AHL farm team of the Predators. For the NHL team he came on January 1, 2003 for his first use in the highest North American professional league, in the first third of the game against the Colorado Avalanche he was substituted on for regular goalkeeper Tomáš Vokoun .
For the 2006/07 season , the Canadian moved to league rivals from Boston, where he was used in both the NHL squad and the Providence Bruins farm team in the AHL. Due to an injury in 2001, the Canadian had to end his career early after this season.
International
At the U20 World Championships in 1999 , Brian Finley was part of Team Canada , which won the silver medal in Winnipeg , Germany.
