Roger Neilson Memorial Award
The Roger Neilson Memorial Award is an award from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). It has been awarded annually since 2005 to the player who achieves the best academic performance at a university or college . It is named after Roger Neilson (1934-2003) who, as coach of the Peterborough Petes in the 1960s and 1970s, placed particular emphasis on the schooling of his players and was later inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame .
The award is comparable to the Ivan Tennant Memorial Award and the Bobby Smith Trophy , the latter not only rewarding school success, but also playing success.
