Leyden Trophy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Leyden Trophy is an Ontario Hockey League trophy for the team that wins the East Division in the regular season . The trophy was awarded for the first time in the 1975/76 season. It was then that the winner of the Leyden Division was awarded. With the division of the OHL into three groups for the 1994/95 season, the trophy of the East Division was awarded. Namesake is Matt Leyden, for his contribution to the Canadian youth ice hockey.

It is not to be confused with the Matt Leyden Trophy , which is awarded as an individual trophy to the best OHL coach of the season.
