The Ken Ground Thistle Character Award for Officials is an award from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). It has been awarded annually since 2013 to a referee who is characterized by passion, leadership skills, professionalism and respect on the field and off the ice. It was launched in honor of Ken Bodendistel , who had made a name for himself as an official in the National Hockey League and, above all, as an instructor for junior referees from the OHL.
