Franziska Baernreither

Franziska C. Baernreither (born March 3, 1857 in Linz ; † November 30, 1927 there ) was an Austrian painter and writer . She wrote under the pseudonym Erlen .

Life

She was born as the daughter of a businessman in Linz. She received her first artistic training at the Linz drawing school from Gustav Schaller, who had been teaching freehand drawing and modeling at the Linz secondary school since 1855 . In Venice and Vienna she continued her studies at the academies of fine arts. She later worked in the studios of Pietro Galter and Eugen von Blaas .

Franziska Baernreither mainly painted landscapes and portraits , specializing in motifs from Venice, Linz, Grein and the Salzkammergut .

From 1891 she also began to write urban history and other literary works, including the 1904 book Veronika. Advice for housekeepers in a spiritual home .

Honor

In 2003, a street was named after her in the Pichling district of Linz. Baernreitherweg joins Neufelderstrasse and is an extension of Schranglstrasse.
