In his first two seasons in Toronto, Chiodo shared the goal with Peter Budaj . Chiodo was in his first season the OHL goalkeeper with the lowest goals against, he was defeated only 2.49 times per game. In his second season Chiodo received significantly fewer stakes to the advantage of Budaj. Still, he achieved two shutouts and helped Toronto have the second lowest average goals conceded in the league. Together with Budaj, Chiodo had the second best catch quota in the league. The third season Chiodo was able to prevail as the first goalkeeper after Budaj's move to the AHL . Chiodo had three shutouts. With him Toronto reached the semifinals of the Conference Play-offs , which they lost. Nevertheless, Chiodo was able to record 18 play-off games this season and was voted the best goalkeeper of the season.

He was drawn by the New York Islanders in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round in 166th place overall. After Chiodo could not agree on a contract with the Islanders, he was pulled by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in a total of 199th place.

After Draft 2003, Chiodo joined the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and, until 2006, kept switching between the penguins' farm teams in the ECHL , the Wheeling Nailers and the AHL , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins . 2003/04 Chiodo came to eight missions with the Penguins in the NHL. On his third NHL mission, he was able to help the Penguins finish a series of 18 games without a win. The following seasons he was no longer used in the NHL.

For the 2006/07 season Chiodo moves to the Finnish SM-liiga . There he was supposed to replace the long-time goalkeeper Niklas Bäckström at Oulun Kärpät , who moved to North America. Chiodo could not convince in Oulu and was dismissed from the team. He spent the 2008/09 season at HK Dinamo Minsk in the Continental Hockey League before signing a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators in August .

The Austrian record ice hockey champion EC KAC announced the commitment of Chiodo on April 14, 2010. He signed a one-year contract that was later extended several times. In 2013 Chiodo won the Austrian championship with the KAC . He then left the club and spent the 2013/14 season with the Bakersfield Condors , Tappara and LeKi .

In the 2014/2015 season he was under contract with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , but moved towards the end of the season to the Finnish first division club Kaipa Kuopio .

For the 2015/16 season he returned to Austria, where he signed with his third Ebel club, HC Innsbruck . He ended his active career after the 2016/17 season.

Chiodo is considered to be a very emotional player, which often earned him negative attention. In 2003 he ran into a game with then-goalkeeper of the Binghamton Senators , Ray Emery . After the brawl, both were expelled from the game. In 2004 Chiodo fought with Philippe Sauvé , then goalkeeper for the Hershey Bears . In 2005, Chiodo took on Antero Niittymäki , then goalkeeper of the Philadelphia Phantoms .
