The third season Chiodo was able to prevail as the first goalkeeper after Budaj's move to the AHL . Chiodo had three shutouts. With him Toronto reached the semifinals of the Conference Play-offs , which they lost. Nevertheless, Chiodo was able to record 18 play-off games this season and was voted the best goalkeeper of the season.
He was drawn by the New York Islanders in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round in 166th place overall. After Chiodo could not agree on a contract with the Islanders, he was pulled by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in a total of 199th place.
After Draft 2003, Chiodo joined the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and, until 2006, kept switching between the penguins' farm teams in the ECHL , the Wheeling Nailers and the AHL , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins . 2003/04 Chiodo came to eight missions with the Penguins in the NHL. After the brawl, both were expelled from the game. In 2004 Chiodo fought with Philippe Sauvé , then goalkeeper for the Hershey Bears .
