Jean-Michel Daoust (born November 24, 1983 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Thetford Mines Assurancia since 2016 .
Career
Daoust began his career at the age of seventeen with the Hull Olympiques of the QMJHL . In his first year he scored 50 points in the regular season, and he also scored four goals in a game against the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi . In the third season 2002/03 at the Olympiques Daoust was the second best scorer of his team and won the championship . He repeated both successes in the following season. In 2004 the winger played at McGill University in the Canadian university sports organization CIS . Already during the 2003/04 season Daoust moved to the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey to the Saint-François de Sherbrooke . The following year Daoust played with the Danbury Trashers in the United Hockey League . After the franchise was dissolved, the Canadian wore the jersey of the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL in the 2006/07 season . The following season he won the Kelly Cup , the championship of the ECHL, with the Cyclones . In addition Daoust denied in the 2007/08 season, a game for the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League and completed as part of a try-out contract of January 2008 a total of 39 games for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the AHL.
In the following season, Daoust again wore the jersey of the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins, before he moved to league rivals Houston Eros . With 55 points, the winger was the team's top scorer in the 2009/10 season . After this successful season, he signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League , but was not used for the game, but spent the entire 2010/11 season again with the farm team in Houston.
For the 2011/12 season Daoust was signed by the Straubing Tigers from the DEL . After a period of getting used to it, he increasingly managed to take on responsibility in the team. In February 2012 he broke his kneecap, which ended the season prematurely for the striker. For the 2012/13 season Daoust signed a contract with the EC Graz 99ers from the EBEL . After a two-year stay with the Stavanger Oilers , he moved to the Kassel Huskies in Germany in 2015 , with whom he became DEL2 champion in his first season .
