Ringette is a sport that in 1963 in North Bay , Ontario in Canada was invented. It is similar to ice hockey and was originally intended for women. There are currently 50,000 participating in the sport in Canada. The sport is also known in the USA , Finland , Sweden , Russia and France .

Ringette is played with an elongated stick instead of an ice hockey stick and with a rubber ring instead of a puck . The players have to place the rubber rings in the opposing goal with the help of the stick, which is identical to the ice hockey goal.

A team consists of 11 to 17 people. Only 6 people are allowed to stand on the ice at the same time (1 goalie, 2 defenders, 1 center, 2 strikers).
