Mikkelin Jukurit is a Finnish ice hockey club from Mikkeli , which was founded in 1970 and has played in the Liiga , the top Finnish league, since 2016 . The team plays their home games in the 4200-seat Ikioma Areena .

After the club had previously spent a few years in the third-class Suomi-sarja , by winning the championship in the 1999/2000 season, they were promoted to the second highest division, the Mestis . In the following three years, the team won the Mestis championship, but the team was denied promotion to the SM-liiga . In the seasons 2003/04 to 2007/08 the club took a place in the top three and in 2005/06 won the fourth championship in the Mestis. Jukurit is still the most successful team in the Mestis to this day.

In spring 2007 Jukurit had the opportunity to move up to the SM-liiga. In the league qualification the team failed due to KalPa Kuopio and therefore continues to play in the Mestis. In 2013 Jukurit won another Mestis championship, but failed again in the relegation to the SM-liiga, this time with 1: 4 to Ilves Tampere .

The club has been playing in the Liiga , as the top Finnish league is now called, since 2016 . This rise was made possible by the bankruptcy of Espoo Blues . Jukurit's new head coach is Risto Dufva.
