Taylor William Pyatt (born August 19, 1981 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played 928 games for the Buffalo Sabers , Vancouver Canucks and Phoenix Coyotes between 1997 and 2015 . His father Nelson and his brother Tom were and are also ice hockey players.
Career
Taylor Pyatt was selected in the first round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in eighth position by the New York Islanders . In his final season in the Ontario Hockey League , he scored 89 points in 68 games, which earned him a nomination for the All-Star Game.
After his rookie season 2000/01 , in which he was able to achieve 18 points in 78 games, he was transferred to the Buffalo Sabers by the Islanders together with Tim Connolly in exchange for Michael Peca to New York .
During the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season , he played in the Swedish second division at Hammarby IF . After another year in Buffalo, Pyatt was sent to the Vancouver Canucks on July 14, 2006 in exchange for a four-round draft pick . In Vancouver he played in the series together with the twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin , which benefited his point yield and where he was able to set a new personal record with 37 points each in the first two seasons.
On September 2, 2009, he signed a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes as a free agent . After a year with the New York Rangers and a brief engagement with the Pittsburgh Penguins , Pyatt was under contract with Genève-Servette HC from July 2014 . A month later, his brother Tom followed him to Geneva. He scored 18 goals and twelve assists in 46 games for Servette in the 2014/15 season and won the Spengler Cup before officially ending his career in July 2015.
