The station Seesen is the largest station in the city of Seesen . There is also the Münchehof (Harz) train station in the urban area .

It has three platform edges with a length of 140 meters each and a height of 55 centimeters. As part of the “Lower Saxony is on Zug II” project, the station was made barrier-free for around 2.6 million euros: elevators were installed on the house platform 1 and on the central platform with tracks 2 and 4. There is a dynamic text indicator on every platform that provides information about delays and other schedule deviations. The old freight yard in Seesen is no longer used and is in ruins. The track systems no longer needed for freight traffic were removed by 2013. Track 3 of the passenger station has also already been dismantled . The station was connected to the digital signal box in Göttingen at the end of 2018 .

The station building of the Seesener Bahnhof is only used to a limited extent and is privately owned. In addition to the waiting hall, a DB travel agency is also housed in the station building. Lebenshilfe has rented space for homework supervision.

Railway lines

The station is on the Herzberg – Seesen and Braunschweig – Kreiensen railway lines and thus functions as a separation station. The Seesen – Derneburg railway was shut down on January 1, 1996 and partially dismantled. In 2013, considerations were made to reactivate the route, but the plans were quickly discarded, as reactivation would have become unprofitable due to the fact that large parts of the track had been converted into cycle paths.
