The Münchehof (Harz) station is a train station in the Lower Saxony town of Seesen . It is located in the south of the city in the second largest district, Münchehof, and next to the Seesen train station, it is one of the two train stations in the city.

investment

Münchehof (Harz) train station has a platform 152 meters long and the edge of the platform is 38 centimeters high. There is a dynamic text indicator on the platform that provides information about delays and other schedule deviations. The station is included in the network area of the VRB and the VSN .

A total of ten sidings and sidings for freight traffic are located south of the passenger stop; In 2017 there were three through tracks and seven sidings. The Fels-Werke lime works has several sidings on it.

The Harz-Weser network, including the Münchehof (Harz) train station, is currently being connected to a digital signal box in Göttingen. The shape signals, some of which are over a hundred years old, are replaced by Ks signals . The German Railways invested over the next five years 250 million euros in the Harz-Weser network. The construction work should be completed by the end of 2018. These are delayed by around two years and are expected to be completed in September / October 2020.

Planning

The station is to be expanded in the coming weeks and months. Among other things, new lighting is planned as well as a railing on the side of the track. Furthermore, the station will be made barrier-free by raising the platform edge to 55 cm. The points 4, 6 and 7 as well as track 12 will be dismantled. Track 11 will be renewed. In September / October 2020 the train station will be connected to the digital signal box in Göttingen. In addition, the two mechanical interlockings will be closed on site. For the changeover, buses must run on a weekend in July, August and September 2020 as replacement.

history

After the Gittelde – Bad Grund railway was shut down , the products of the Grund ore mine were shipped via the Münchehof station until it was shut down in 1992; a loading ramp was built for this in 1972.

The station and the entire railway system were modernized in 2016 for around 1.4 million euros. In Münchehof, it used to be possible to cross in passenger traffic on tracks 1 and 2. Since the scheduled train crossing was relocated to Gittelde / Bad Grund (Harz), track 1 was dismantled. Today only platform 2 still exists, which is why crossings occasionally take place on the freight tracks if there are delays. In addition, lime is transported from the nearby lime works to the Salzgitter AG steel works via the Münchehof (Harz) station .
