Oebisfelde-Weferlingen is a town in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Geographical location
Parts of the Drömling are in the city, which is on the state border with Lower Saxony , on the northeastern edge of the Lappwald and on the transition zone from the Altmark to the Magdeburg Börde . The rivers Aller , Ohre and Spetze flow through the area . The Nievoldhagen desert and most of the Harbke-Allertal nature reserve are located in the urban area .
Neighboring communities
In the north of the city limits blocks and the Hanseatic city Gardelegen of Altmark Salzwedel circle at, in the east of the communities Calvörde , Flechtingen and Altenhausen , in the south the municipalities Erxleben and Beendorf (member communities of the municipality Flechtingen ). In the west lies the state of Lower Saxony with the municipalities Grasleben , Velpke and Brome .

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Döhren, Eschenrode, Hödingen, Hörsingen, Schwanefeld, Seggerde, Siestedt, Walbeck and the Flecken Weferlingen from the Flechtingen administrative community and the communities of Bösdorf, Eickendorf, Etingen, Kathendorf, Rätzlingen and the city joined forces Oebisfelde from the administrative community Oebisfelde-Calvörde to form the city of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen. The remaining communities of the two administrative communities founded the Verbandsgemeinde Flechtingen . The urban area essentially consists of the administrative communities Oebisfelde and Weferlingen , which were dissolved in 2005 (except for Beendorf ). On September 1, 2010, the former Everingen municipality was incorporated by law. Initially, it was co-administered by the city from January 1, 2010.

Another member is the mayor. Seven committees were formed to carry out these tasks, the number of which decreased by two to five on January 1, 2012.

The city's first full-time mayor from 2010 to 2017 was Silke Wolf ( Die Linke ). Hans-Werner Kraul ( CDU ) won the runoff election on November 6, 2016 . He has been mayor of the unified municipality since January 24, 2017.

The coat of arms was approved by the district on May 13, 2011.
Blazon : “In a blue shield sprinkled with fourteen silver stars, a golden oak with silver acorns and golden capsules growing out of a golden shield base covered with a blue wavy strip. On the middle of the oak a silver owl turned half to the right, on the chest a silver shield with two black rhombuses in it. "
The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch . It combines the coat of arms symbols from the coats of arms of Oebisfelde (Kauz) and Weferlingen (oak) with fourteen stars scattered as a reference to the other former communities, while the wavy bar symbolizes the rivers Aller, Ohre and Spetze.

Town twinning
The individual districts still have partnerships that are maintained by the places themselves. The town of Oebisfelde has had a town partnership with the Polish Lidzbark (Lautenburg) and Weferlingen since 2000 with the Bulgarian Swilengrad .
Culture and sights
The Aller cycle path and the northern route of the Romanesque Road run through the city. The commune's cultural monuments are listed in the local register of monuments.
Museums
The localities of Oebisfelde and Weferlingen each have local museums that deal specifically with the history and development of the region. In the Weferlinger Museum you can also see the development of the local Adler pharmacy.

Economy and Infrastructure

Through the city leading Berlin Lehrter railway and the railway lines Oebisfelde-Magdeburg and Haldensleben-Weferlingen . The Oebisfelde station was a major railway junction for a long time and from 1945 to 1990 it was a border station on the inner-German border . Weferlingen is connected to the rail network via the Helmstedt – Oebisfelde and Haldensleben routes, some of which are used by freight .
In addition, there is the Mittelland Canal in the north , to which there is access on the Drömling Landing . In the south, the federal highway 2 crosses the city area. The Federal Highway 188 runs north from Oebisfelde, the Federal Highway 1 is six kilometers from the district Schwanefeld removed.
