The Castle Seggerde, even Manor Seggerde, in Oebisfelde-Weferlingen ( Börde ) in Saxony-Anhalt was from 1833 to 1838 by Werner Friedrich von Spiegel to Peckelsheim in the style of late Baroque built. The castle is located in the district of Seggerde an der Aller .
history
In 1224 a Siegfried von Seggerde is described, who probably served as the namesake. Two years later appeared Seggerde first time in Lehnregister of Luthard of Meinersen on. The moated castle at that time was acquired by Statius von Münchhausen around 1616 as a dowry for his daughter Engel, who married Arndt Spiegel zu Peckelsheim . The old moated castle, which was originally a simple fortification that was built to protect against the Slavs, also took place during this period.
In 1749 Ehrengard married Melusine von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim (* 1728), heiress to Seggerde, her distant cousin Ernst Ludwig Freiherr von Spiegel zum Desenberg . In 1828 Werner Friedrich von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim inherited the moated castle along with numerous other goods, to which he moved after a short stay in Halberstadt in 1830. In 1833 he began to convert the moated castle into a late baroque three-wing complex. The English landscape park with its two large lakes as well as an orangery and a palm house also fell into this period . The moats that still surround the castle on three sides are the last indications that a fortified moated castle once stood here.
The Seggerde Castle, including the manor and estates, was bequeathed by the wife of Werner Friedrich von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim, the son of the above named, who died in 1892, to her brother-in-law, the chamberlain and district administrator a. D. Eduard von Davier .
In 1945, the family of Davier of which was Soviet occupation forces expropriated . From then on, the castle served as a pulmonary hospital, apprentice dormitory, accommodation for the border troops and a crèche. Since the reunification, the von Davier family have owned the castle again. Until 2017 the castle park belonged to the park association " Gartenträume Sachsen-Anhalt ". Concerts are occasionally held in the castle.
