Alfred Pechau
Alfred Pechau (born December 23, 1921 in Bergen near Magdeburg ; † July 12, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German composer and musician .
Life
From 1936 to 1940 Alfred Pechau received music training in clarinet and saxophone from music director Erich Banse (Stadtpfeifer) in Rätzlingen (Altmark). Pechau was then a musician in the Air Force and later a long-time musician with the Central Orchestra of the National People's Army . Pechau's best-known composition is the Brandenburg Presentation March , which served both as a presentation march for the National People's Army and at the same time for their land forces .
