Casimir Wilhelm von Hessen-Homburg (born March 23, 1690 in Weferlingen , † October 9, 1726 in Hötensleben ) was a prince of Hessen-Homburg .

Life

Kasimir Wilhelm was the youngest son of Landgrave Friedrich II of Hesse-Homburg (1633–1708), the famous Prince of Homburg , from his second marriage to Luise Elisabeth (1646–1690), daughter of Duke Jakob von Kurland . He was brought up together with his three years younger half-brother Ludwig Georg (from Friedrich II's third marriage to Countess Sophie Sybille von Leiningen-Westerburg (1656-1724)). During a visit to his cousin, Duke Friedrich zu Mecklenburg , a passion for hunting awakened in him, which he shared with his father and brothers.

Since his older brother stood before him in the line of succession and had two sons, he switched to a military career and fought in a Mecklenburg regiment under Prince Eugene in 1708 . At the beginning of 1715 he joined the Swedish army under Charles XII. a. In early summer he was captured near Wismar and resigned from military service.

In 1718 he was awarded the estate in Hötensleben by drawing lots . On October 8, 1722 he married in Braunfels Christine Charlotte (1690-1751), daughter of Count Wilhelm Moritz of Solms-Braunfels .

For a time he was the owner of today's Sinclair House, opposite the Homburg Castle . The “hunting diary” of the passionate hunter and horse lover has been handed down.
