Sophie Christiane Luise von Brandenburg-Bayreuth (born January 4, 1710 in Weferlingen , † June 13, 1739 in Brussels ) was a princess of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and by marriage princess of Thurn and Taxis .

Life

Sophie Christiane Luise was the eldest child of Margrave Georg Friedrich Karl von Brandenburg-Bayreuth (1688–1735) from his marriage to Dorothea (1685–1761), daughter of Duke Friedrich Ludwig von Holstein-Beck .

On April 11, 1731, she married Prince Alexander Ferdinand von Thurn und Taxis (1704–1773) in Frankfurt am Main, displaying great splendor . Two months after the marriage, Sophie's brother Friedrich became engaged to Wilhelmine , a sister of Frederick the Great .

The Catholic prince assured his Protestant wife of her denomination in the marriage contract, but forced her to convert two years after the marriage on March 17, 1733 in Mainz.

The princess died in Brussels and was buried in the family vault there.
