action

The (fictional) British colony of Santa Maya in the Caribbean is taken by General Mosquera, the dictator of the neighboring country. The following US-brokered diplomatic talks between Great Britain and Mosquera's junta are sabotaged by the terrorist Lacrobat. As it turns out, Mosquera has entered into a secret alliance with the Soviet Union . Britain sends the Royal Navy under gay Admiral Bendish to the Caribbean to retake the tiny country.

In Great Britain, popular Conservative Prime Minister Mortimer Chris is acting increasingly strange. He sees evil elves and trolls as the main cause of the current economic crisis in the country, against whom he is launching a large-scale campaign. To address the problem of high unemployment and create job vacancies, Chris is implementing a national program whereby 10,000 workers will throw themselves off the chalk cliffs near Dover every week . Two of his ministers then contact the American president directly and propose an attempted murder on the man who has gone mad. An acid attack in the bathtub is commissioned, but fails. However, the prime minister loses a hand. With a hook as a replacement hand, Chris continues the government business.

Meanwhile, the fleet is heading for the Caribbean. On a warship there is also Princess Wendy, who serves as a nurse - which the public should not find out. There are also two reporters from the English press on board who soon learn of the princess' presence. While preparing for an operation, there is a momentous accident when the princess accidentally castrated a patient, encountered by one of the reporters. Admiral Bendish has the hated reporters abandoned on the next island. The island is not uninhabited. When they discover a hotel on the beach, they want to move into a room there. They are dismissed at reception because the hotel is said to be full. In fact, the common rooms are packed with bald men with Russian accents and uniform Hawaiian shirts. The reporters look around and discover that this hotel complex is a Soviet nuclear missile base on the doorstep of the United States. Before they can tell this to the world, they are murdered by a "hotel employee" and their bodies are thrown into the sea.

The troops take Santa Maya again after a short battle. In an evening entertainment for the troops, in addition to the revue girls, there is also a hypnotist who unconsciously lets volunteers perform bizarre acts. Admiral Bendish is also hypnotized. With a snap of his fingers, he panics at an imaginary fire and yells: "Fire!" The terrorist Lacrobat can sneak into the show as a magician and lets the princess who was asked to go onto the stage disappear there. Chris responds to the kidnapping with an ultimatum to Santa Maya. If the princess is not handed over unscathed, a nuclear strike will be carried out against Santa Maya. He publicly crucifies two of the ministers he holds responsible for the kidnapping.

The US, which had previously unreservedly supported Great Britain, is increasingly being drawn into the conflict. The situation becomes completely serious when the bodies of the murdered reporters, together with the tape recorder with the dictated observations, are found off the American coast. At the same time, the US president receives from Lacrobat an ultimatum in the form of a “ rambogram ” to get the British to withdraw their fleet from the Caribbean, otherwise the princess would be killed. Prime Minister Chris meanwhile distributes umbrellas printed with the Union Jack to his people, who can use them to protect themselves against any nuclear impact. He himself praises the umbrellas, like his hooked hand, as a marvel of British technology.

While feverish searches for the princess are in progress all over the world, Lacrobat travels unnoticed to London via the USA. He disguises the princess as a gagged S / M slave and as a gorilla. Finally, he drugged them and exhibited them in the Madame Tussauds wax museum . This does not go unnoticed by the British secret service and they mobilize their best troop, the SAS, to free the princess . Equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, the troops loudly enter the wax museum, only the tiger that is carried along is dispensed with, which is left on the loading area of the truck. The battle against the wax figures is costly; eleven men of the SAS lose their lives. After all, Princess Wendy is found alive. Lacrobat also escapes at first, but is torn to pieces by the tiger when he tries to get into the SAS truck.

The mood on the flagship of the British fleet is extremely tense. The ultimatum will expire in a few moments, and preparations are already being made for the launching of nuclear weapons against Santa Maya. Shortly before being shot down, Admiral Bendish received the news that the princess had been freed. When he stands there absentmindedly for a few seconds and gives no orders, one of the officers standing by snaps his finger to get attention. The admiral yells: "Fire!".

criticism

"Even though the humor is sometimes well below the belt, the film is convincing with its refreshing disrespect, which refers to the best English film and television tradition."
