Peter Boyle (film editor)

Peter Boyle (born May 27, 1946 in Formby , England ) is a British film editor .

life and work

Boyle learned his trade in the 1970s from John Victor Smith , whose assistant editor he was on Richard Lester's films . In 1976 he worked for Lester for the first time on the film editing of an American production: The murderer lurks in the sauna . In 1980 he made his debut as a freelance editor with LA Prisoner . He then worked for decades for both British and American productions. The last British film he edited was Tristan & Isolde in 2006 ; before that, it was Still Crazy in 1998 . In the meantime, the film The Hours was made in America in 2002 , for which Boyle received several awards and nominations, including an Oscar and BAFTA Award nomination.

After working several times for Richard Lester at the beginning of his career, he has worked with other directors for many years, including Kevin Reynolds , Jon Amiel and, in recent years, Mikael Håfström .

Boyle is a member of the American Cinema Editors .
