Jon Amiel (born May 20, 1948 in London ) is a British director and film producer .

Life

Jon Amiel studied English at Cambridge University before joining the Oxford and Cambridge Shakespeare Company . He later worked as a director for the Royal Shakespeare Company .

Amiel worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation in the 1970s and 1980s . In 1985 he directed the highly acclaimed film The Silent Twins . The 1989 comedy Queen of Hearts won awards at the Montréal World Film Festival and the Paris Film Festival .

Amiel has been working in the United States since 1990 . Amiel worked with Jodie Foster and Richard Gere as director of Sommersby , and with Bill Murray as director of Agent Null Null Nix (The Man Who Knew Too Little) . At the film Entrapment (Entrapment) from 1999 played Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery with, the film The Core - The inner core of 2003 among others Hilary Swank .

Jon Amiel then directed several television series , including The Tudors with Jonathan Rhys Meyers . In 2009, Creation, another full-length feature film by Amiel, was released in theaters.
