history
The place name indicates a German foundation. In 1939 Wassensdorf had 519 inhabitants. From 1954 until the fall of the Wall , Wassensdorf was in the 5 km exclusion zone , which could only be entered by authorized GDR citizens.
Until 1952 Wassensdorf belonged to the district of Gardelegen ; then it came to the newly formed Klötze district . Wassensdorf was incorporated into Oebisfelde in 1994 and thus lost its political independence. From 1994 to January 1, 2005 the place belonged to the administrative community Oebisfelde, then from 2005 to 31 December 2009 the administrative community Oebisfelde-Calvörde in the Ohrekreis and from 2007 in the district of Börde . On January 1, 2010, the city of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen was founded due to a municipal reform in Saxony-Anhalt. Wassensdorf, as a district of the former city of Oebisfelde, became a district of the new city of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen.
Infrastructure
