The Verbandsgemeinde Flechtingen is a local authority in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt . The administrative seat of the Verbandsgemeinde is in Flechtingen. There are branch offices in Calvörde and Erxleben.

The Beber , Ohre and Spetze rivers flow through the area . In addition, the Flechtinger ridge is part of the VBG.
Neighboring communities
In the north, the Hanseatic city borders Gardelegen of Altmark Salzwedel circle at, in the east of the Elbe-Heide , the county seat Haldensleben and the unit municipality Hohe Börde . In the south lies the community of Obere Aller , in the west the state of Lower Saxony with the community-free area of Helmstedt . In addition, the city of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen borders the Verbandsgemeinde to the west.
history
The Verbandsgemeinde was founded in the course of the municipal reform in Saxony-Anhalt on January 1, 2010. Because the minimum number of inhabitants for member municipalities of a Verbandsgemeinde is 1000 (minor deviations are possible) and their number is limited to eight, there were the following on the day of foundation Changes:
- The municipalities of Alleringersleben (425), Eimersleben (474), Morsleben (329) and Ostingersleben (263) merged to form the municipality of Ingersleben (1,491).
- The municipalities Altenhausen (354), Emden (305) and Ivenrode (469) merged to form the new municipality Altenhausen (1,128).
- The municipalities of Bartensleben (336), Bregenstedt (539), Hakenstedt with Groppendorf (525) and Uhrsleben (479) were incorporated into the municipality of Erxleben, the population of which rose from 1,264 to 3,143
- The communities Behnsdorf (650), Belsdorf (190), Böddensell (235) and Flechtingen (1,777) merged to form the new community Flechtingen (2,852).
- The municipalities of Berenbrock (278), Dorst (171), Grauingen (159), Klüden (284), Mannhausen (281), Velsdorf (199), Wegenstedt (394) and Zobbenitz (327) as well as the area of Calvörde (1,746) closed to form the new municipality of Calvörde (3,839).
- The municipality of Wieglitz (188) was incorporated into the municipality of Bülstringen, whose population increased from 758 to 946.

The Verbandsgemeinde was founded from parts of the Flechtingen administrative community and the Oebisfelde-Calvörde administrative community , which dissolved at that time. The remaining communities of the two administrative communities founded the city of Oebisfelde-Weferlingen . The area essentially consists of the administrative communities of Beverspring , Flechtinger Höhenzug and Calvörde , which were dissolved in 2005 (and the municipality of Beendorf ).
On January 1, 2014, the Süplingen community left the association and became part of the city of Haldensleben .
politics
According to the runoff election on December 20, 2009, the first full-time mayor of the association was Jürgen Wille. His successor since 2015 has been Mathias Weiß, who was elected in the runoff election on March 22, 2015.
According to the local elections on December 6th, 2009, the association council has 26 members. The turnout was 48.9%. The choice brought the following result:

Another member of the municipal council is the municipal mayor.
traffic
In the north the Mittelland Canal runs through the area, while in the south there is the federal motorway 2 with the junctions Alleringersleben and Eilsleben as well as the federal roads 1 , 245 and 246a . In addition, the Oebisfelde-Magdeburg and Haldensleben-Weferlingen railway lines run through the area.
