Grauingen was already mentioned in the chronicle of Calvörde Castle . In this it is said that in the seventh and eighth centuries on this side of the ear, besides other places, there was Grauingen. According to another chronicle, there were seven farms, eight kossaten farms and five farms. The layout of the village in the shape of a horseshoe shows that it is of Wendish origin. This is also supported by the many polluted willows, the favorite trees of the old Wends. In 1832, on July 13th, almost the entire village was destroyed in a conflagration. Until then, all roofs were thatched. By 1866, the village of Grauingen was rebuilt in a horseshoe shape, as it still exists today. At the turn of the century 1899/1900 the village consisted of 44 pieces of land. In 1910 the place was connected to the electrical power supply, on July 4, 1910 the lamps shone for the first time.

On January 1, 2010, the communities of Grauingen, Berenbrock (with Elsebeck and Lössewitz ), Dorst , Klüden , Mannhausen , Velsdorf , Wegenstedt and Zobbenitz merged with the town of Calvörde to form the new municipality of Calvörde.
