Historically, Dorst is connected to Calvörde and belonged to the exclave of the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

Dorst ( Dozitz , Düst , Dost , Dorste ) is mentioned for the first time in 1311 and formed the half court with Uthmöden , Zobbenitz and some now desolate places, an area claimed by the Archbishopric of Magdeburg and the House of Braunschweig.

Fritz and Gerhard von Wedderden received Dorst as a fief from the archbishopric in 1380 . In 1396 after the family died out, Friedrich von Alvensleben inherits their property. In 1446 the village, which was deserted at that time, became an archbishop's fief, with shares in Uthmöden and Zobbenitz, Georg and Hildebrand von Berwinkel , whose family also owned the half court until they died out in 1492. In 1473, Hildebrand and Borchard von Berwinkel sold Dorst, which was now inhabited again, to Busso von der Schulenburg . In 1481 Archbishop Ernst renewed the fiefdom with bailiwick and justice, but Dorst was again described as desolate. The Dorst is said to have had its heyday at the end of the 15th century.

The von der Schulenburg were also responsible for Dorst in the 16th century, but so were the von Alvensleben noble family (Calfördische Linie) with the Schulzenamt . The half court (Magdeburg part) went to the Alvensleben office after the von Berwinkel family had died out . The Braunschweiger part (Dorst, Zobbenitz, Uthmöden) went to von Alvensleben (Calfördische Linie), from 1554 to Ludolf von Alvensleben auf Calbe / Zichtau and Matthias von der Schulenburg, from 1558 to von Bortfeld and Viktor von Bülow , from 1571 Redemption and union of Calvörde with the half-court by Duke Julius of Braunschweig , Dorst came to the office of Calvörde . The office existed until 1945.

Until it was re-established in 1704, Dorst is said to have been desolate during and after the Thirty Years' War . In 1774 there were five residents, a shepherd family, in one dwelling; Dorst was considered a Vorwerk in the municipality of Zobbenitz. From 1807 to 1814 it belonged with Uthmöden and Zobbenitz not to the canton of Calvörde, but to the canton of Neuhaldensleben. In 1814 the old connection with Calvörde was re-established, which in 1827 also became the court and administrative seat again.

On January 1, 1868, Dorst was released from the community association with Zobbenitz and established as an independent community. However, the landlord determined the mayor alone and could also dismiss him. It is noticeable that from 1871 to 1910 the community only had 6 to 7 residential buildings. The place had apparently a constant population in 1871 with 82 and 1933 with 86 inhabitants; but after a sudden low with 43 inhabitants (1890) five years later with 115 inhabitants a high was reached, but then after another 5 years only 38 inhabitants (1900) were counted.

On January 1, 2010 the municipalities of Dorst, Berenbrock (with Elsebeck and Lössewitz ), Grauingen , Klüden , Mannhausen , Velsdorf , Wegenstedt and Zobbenitz merged with the town of Calvörde to form the new municipality of Calvörde. In 2011 the place celebrated its 700th anniversary as part of the Calvörde festival .
