Samuel Walther

Samuel Walther (born February 18, 1679 in Wegenstedt , Calvörde ; † May 10, 1754 in Magdeburg ) was a writer , educator , historian and member of the Prussian Academy of Science .

Life

He studied pedagogy in Helmstedt, Halle and Jena, and in 1711 he became vice principal at the Saldern school in Brandenburg. A year later he moved to Magdeburg and took over the post of vice rector at the municipal high school. Walther then worked from 1732 as the rector of the high school in Magdeburg. He wrote historical writings that also appeared under his pseudonym Johann Ebenfeld or under " Samuel Waltherus ". In 1737 written book Magdeburgische Merckworthiness he described the rivers Ohre and Drömling .
