history

Uthmöden was first mentioned in 1343 as Uhtmode (1347 Otmude , 1443 Utmode , 1539 Uthmoede ).

In the Middle Ages and the early modern period, Uthmöden, along with some other villages, some of which are now desert , was part of the so-called half court, an area controversial between the Archbishopric of Magdeburg and the House of Braunschweig , which was mapped by Johannes Krabbe in 1587 . Because of this situation, there were repeated disputes. In 1571, Duke Julius von Braunschweig united the half-court, which also included Zobbenitz , Dorst , Born and Uthmöden, with Calvörde to form the Calvörde district , which was a Braunschweig enclave in Prussian territory until 1945. The church still belongs to the Brunswick regional church.

On January 16, 1586, the Calvörder bailiff Johann Schoppe stayed for a wedding in Uthmöden. As revenge for previous disputes, the Archdiocese of Wolmirstedt, Georg von Lange, had 450 armed men surround the house and arrested the bailiff. Uthmöder farmers were injured, buildings were damaged and flax and food, as well as two horses and two cans, were stolen.
