Johannes Krabbe (* 1553 in Münden ; † November 14, 1616 in Wolfenbüttel ) was a German astrologer , astronomer , gunsmith , fireworker , geometer , instrument maker , calendar maker , cartographer , mathematician and clockmaker of the early modern period .

Life

The exact year and place of birth are not known. In this regard, research goes back to 1553 and Münden (today Hann. Münden ) (a family of skippers Krabbe was based in Münden at that time ). After Johannes Letzner he was a student at the local Latin school . In 1579 he made an astrolabe . In 1581 he became a student at the University of Helmstedt . In the following year he continued his studies at the University of Frankfurt / Oder . From 1585 he took lessons in several cities, his teachers were Jost Bürgi , Jacob Cuno, David Fabricius , Hieronymus Vorteilel and Bartholomäus Scultetus . In Wolfenbüttel he finally worked for Duke Julius in various functions. He also carried out orders for its predecessor and successor. On August 24, 1615 he married Anne Jordans from Sarstedt and died after a year of marriage.
