Morsleben is a district of the municipality Ingersleben in the district of Börde in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany .

geography

Morsleben is located in Saxony-Anhalt in the upper Allertal on the border with Lower Saxony . The former inner-German border crossing at Marienborn was located in the municipality. The place gains supra-regional importance through the only final repository for radioactive waste Morsleben (ERAM) in Germany, which is housed in a former salt mine.

history

Konrad von Morsleben was Count of Morsleben and Hornburg in the 10th century . He was married to Amulrada, the sister of Magdeburg Archbishop Waltard . Her son Suitger von Morsleben (* 1005) was accepted into the court chapel of Emperor Konrad II as a chaplain in 1035 . His son, King Heinrich III. Appointed Suitger Bishop of Bamberg in 1040 and had him elected as Clement II as the first German Pope at the Synod of Sutri in December 1046, at which three simultaneously incumbent popes were deposed .

Morsleben is mentioned in a document around 1210 as Morsleve in Marienberg Abbey in Helmstedt.

In the border village of Morsleben, the main customs office was located in what is still the so-called customs house today.

Also at the Sankt-Petrus-Kirche with its equestrian stone, which is not unlike that of Hornhausen, one can learn a very interesting architectural history from the Romanesque to the Gothic to the Baroque. The core of the Allermühle probably dates back to the 18th century . The distance stone Morsleben , which has been preserved east of the village, was built around 1820/30 . From 1945 to 1990 Morsleben was near the border between the occupation zones and later between the GDR and the FRG . A watchtower near Morsleben was also preserved from this time .

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Morsleben, Alleringersleben , Eimersleben and Ostingersleben merged to form the new community of Ingersleben.

Early medieval stone sculptures were found near the village.

badges and flags

The coat of arms was approved on September 11, 1996 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : "In green a standing silver archer with a stretched golden bow and applied golden arrow, in the slung silver quiver three golden arrows."

The present design is based on the fact that the community of Morsleben verifiably had an archer in its seal, but a picture no longer exists. The Sagittarius symbolizes the defensive and steadfastness of the residents of Morsleben, who don't put up with anything. The weapon - bow and arrows - testify to the age of the community.

The green of the shield indicates the forests around Morsleben, in which the silver archer hunted his prey, so it also stands for the fertility of the landscape. The golden tinging of bows and arrows (weapons) once again emphasizes readiness for defense.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Erika Fiedler .

The flag is striped white and green with an applied coat of arms.
