history

St. Marien Hakenstedt

The first documentary mention dates from the year 1142. According to the place name, Hakenstedt is much older. Hakenstedt, formerly located on Selschen See, which is rich in fish, was founded as a fishing village. On the shores of the former lake there are still witnesses from prehistoric times, so-called desolations. In addition to the town of Selschen or Selchen, the town of Klein Hakenstedt has also disappeared from the map, but not from the field names. The center of the place and the historical development is the Stiftungsgut Hakenstedt with over 650 hectares of arable land.

On September 30, 1928, the hookstedt manor district was merged with the rural community of Hakenstedt.

The place celebrated its 850th anniversary in 1992.

In addition to a house chronicle by Kurt Schneidewind from the 1940s, there is a comprehensive chronicle of Hakenstedt published by Kurt Bartels in the Working Group for Central German Family Research.

The merger of the Ohre and Börde districts in July 2007 resulted in a merger that meant a historic return to the former Haldensleben district for some villages in the Börde district. On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Hakenstedt, Bartensleben , Bregenstedt (December 31, 2009) and Uhrsleben were incorporated into Erxleben.

Culture and sights

In the village is the Protestant St. Mary's Church, which has been extensively restored in recent years. The two remaining bells date from the 11th and 16th centuries. The foundation property was also thoroughly renovated at great expense. To the north of the church is the parsonage, Hakenstedt , which is also listed .

Hockelstadt: In Martin Luther's table speeches there is a reference to a pilgrimage to Hockelstadt to see a picture of Mary. It was probably a long demolished chapel in Hakenstedt, which contained a famous, miraculous picture of the Virgin Mary .

Club life is organized by the volunteer fire brigade and the sports club, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2011.

Personalities

  • Georg Wilhelm Wahnschaffe (1710–1791). Prussian chief magistrate, Braunschweig-Lüneburgischer Drost, hydraulic engineering expert, land improver and multiple domain and manor owner took over the Hakenstedt domain in 1778.
  • Carl Friedrich Christoph Breymann (1762-1821). He was instrumental in the formation of the Elbe National Hussar Regiment on November 19, 1813. With a contribution of 20,000 thalers from his own pocket, he made a significant contribution to the acquisition of the basic equipment of the Green Hussar regiment.
  • Henning Franz Hampe (1670-1722) was a member of the council of the city of Haldensleben and a treasurer. He was born as the son of the then leaseholder of the monastery, bailiff Gebhard Johann Hampe and his wife Catharina Elisabeth Hampe. He played an important role in the history of the town of Haldensleben at the beginning of the 18th century when the electoral court appointed him “a member of the council and a permanent chamberlain” on January 25, 1700.

Economy and Infrastructure

The federal road 245 to Eilsleben leads through the Seelsche Bruch, which was gained by draining the Seelschen See in the 18th century . Here, in the course of compensatory measures for the expansion of the nearby Federal Motorway 2 , a major renaturation took place in recent years. The federal road 246a begins in the village and leads to Burg .

In addition to some commercial enterprises, agriculture mainly determines what happens in the village. There is also a vehicle logistics center. The Haldensleben – Eilsleben railway line , on which the Hakenstedt station was located, has been closed.
