Groß Bartensleben is a part of the municipality of Erxleben in Saxony-Anhalt .

Locations

The village is located in the Allertal, where the Aller runs west of the locality. The Bartensleben Forest extends to the north . Morsleben is to the south , Beendorf to the west and Klein Bartensleben to the east . The district road K 1144 runs through Groß Bartensleben. In the vicinity of Groß Bartensleben there are geological gypsum nests in the ground. By leaching of the gypsum is in the region now and then to sinkholes .

history

A first mention of Bartensleben comes from the year 1112. At the southern edge of today's location there was a moated castle, from which today's Bartensleben Castle emerged. The manor Groß Bartensleben , whose buildings still characterize the village today, took up most of the town . The castle and estate were ancestral seat of the von Bartensleben family .

The Reformation was introduced in 1563 by Hans von Veltheim , who appointed a Protestant preacher for the Gutskirche Groß Bartensleben .

On the night of September 10th to 11th, 1807, the band of robbers of Great Charles attacked the Sülzemühle near Groß Bartensleben. The residents of the mill were mistreated and seriously injured.

In 1885 there were 173 inhabitants in Groß Bartensleben. It then rose over 224 inhabitants in 1890 to 297 inhabitants in 1895 and then fell to 227 in 1900. By 1919 it rose again to 252 people. The population of Klein Bartensleben was always larger.

The main part of the manor district Groß Bartensleben was united on September 30, 1928 with the rural community of Klein Bartensleben; small parts of the district came to Schwanefeld and Alleringersleben. Klein Bartensleben was renamed Bartensleben on April 10, 1929. On January 1, 2010, the district of Groß Bartensleben became part of the Erxleben community due to the dissolution of the Bartensleben community and other communities.

In addition to the castle, the manor church and the manor, several other buildings are listed in the local register of monuments.

Personalities

The entrepreneur and member of the Hamburg citizenship Theodor Dill (1797–1885), the Princess von and zu Putbus Wanda Marie von Veltheim (1837–1867) and the NSDAP politician Fritz Fröhlich (1887–1962) were born in Groß Bartensleben .
