Purpose of the association

The main objective of the association, which was founded in 1962, is the research and documentation of family histories and noble families that come from the historically central German area. The entire former Upper Saxon District as well as Upper and Lower Lusatia are dealt with by the association members . This area is now roughly covered by the federal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Brandenburg with Berlin , Saxony-Anhalt , Thuringia and Saxony . In order to make the work in this large research area more successful and transparent, a number of regional and topic-related working groups have been formed under the patronage of the AMF , for example for the Uckermark , the Altenburger Land , the Eichsfeld , the Ore Mountains , the North Harz , the upper Elbe Valley and the Muldentalkreis .
